One Caribbean Television reporter and SocaMom Summit speaker, Melissa Noel, shared a story about the SocaMom Summit during the #InItTogether segment on WENY TV.
“Well, regardless of where we call home we are in it together and that’s the name of a new segment that we’re starting with our broadcasting colleagues around the country. It’s a conversation about how life in our communities has changed,” said Nick Quattrini.
It is part of a series that documents people and organizations who are providing resources to the community during the coronavirus outbreak. When asked what the challenge was that was the basis for the summit, Melissa said:
Eva Wilson… she’s a really well-known author and blogger. She’s the founder of this [and] the SocaMom blog which really is a great source for all things Caribbean. And so, she wanted to put together this summit, but due to all that’s happening with the pandemic and of course social distancing, that could not take place. But instead of postponing or canceling the summit, she decided to pivot and turn it into something completely virtual.
Melissa continued:
And what I love about it is that so many of us could use some motivation right now… something positive. So all of the people that were gonna be a part of it in person, everyone from finance coaches to medical professionals health gurus chefs are going to also participate, but it’ll just be online. So you’ll have everything from your workouts, to your Caribbean cooking demos, to you everything to get yourself in shape but it all take place online.
Thank you so much for sharing the story of the SocaMom Summit, Melissa!
